Tavia Galonski has served as Summit County Clerk of Courts since her appointment in 2024. She is the first black person to lead a countywide charter office. As Clerk of Courts, she has focused on transparency, justice, efficiency, and community engagement. Galonski hosts an annual expungement clinic with the Summit County Prosecutor’s office. Galonski launched a pending civil filings website in 2024, which gives the public the ability to access new electronic filings as they are received. She is a member of the Ohio Clerk of Courts Association, serving as the District 8 Chair providing education and networking opportunities for Northeast Ohio Clerk of Courts. Clerk Galonski is active on the Clerk of Courts social media, educating and informing residents about the Clerk of Courts services and community happenings.

Tavia Galonski received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, where she became employed with Delta Airlines as a flight attendant. Her goal at Delta was to unionize flight attendants like pilots, as she noticed the pilots were able to negotiate as a unit for fair and just workplace agreements.

She continued to work full time as a flight attendant while attending the University of Akron School of Law. She graduated from the University of Akron School of Law in 1995 and was admitted to the practice of law. Upon passing the bar, Galonski worked as an attorney for Community Legal Aid.

Tavia Galonski has served the state in a legal capacity for over fifteen years. Previously, she was appointed as a magistrate in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas, working in the Domestic Relations Court. Most recently, she served as a truancy magistrate for the Summit County Juvenile Court before being appointed to the state legislature.

Prior to her appointment to Clerk of Courts, she served for six and half years in the Ohio House of Representatives. As a State Representative, Tavia Galonski focused on using her legal expertise and work experience to address the biggest challenges facing the state and improve the quality of life for the residents of the 33rd House District. She was the ranking member of the House Civil Justice Committee and the Minority Assistant Whip.

She is married to Summit County Chief Assistant Prosecutor John Galonski. She is a mother and grandmother of two.
