Our criminal division handles all felony cases within Summit County. Cases with only misdemeanor or traffic offenses are handled primarily through the three Municipal Courts located in Akron, Barberton, and Stow, with some being under the jurisdiction of several Mayor’s Courts throughout the county. Our criminal division also assures the timely reporting of all dispositions to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
General Filing Requirements
Orders, Motions and Pleadings
The original and 2 copies are required for over-the-counter filings. E-filing is mandatory for attorneys.
Subpoenas
E-filing is mandatory for attorneys.
Expungement or Sealing of Records
The cost to file for Expungement or Sealing of Records is $50.00. The original and 4 copies are required for filing over-the-counter. E-filing is mandatory for attorneys. An investigation will be performed by the Probation Department.
Appearance Bonds
Personal checks are not accepted for payment of Bonds. Credit Cards are accepted.
An additional State of Ohio mandated fee of $85.00 is charged on all bonds, except for signature and recognizance bonds.
